Jesus wept
and so can we
Dry eyes don’t make us
braver or stronger
than our Lord
Jesus wept over death
even though he was about to restore life
and had both faith and sight
He still wept
even knowing the glories of Heaven
which overshadow earth’s pain
Jesus wept because death
isn’t how it was meant to be
Soul torn from body
Friend from friend
Flesh from flesh
Humanity from earth
Jesus wept
beside a tomb
over a city
in a garden
and on a cross
This man of sorrows
acquainted with grief
knows your tears
and collects every one
Not to shame you
but to heal you
and restore you to life
beyond the grave
